Field Machinist (Travel Position)
Location: Nationwide Travel – On the Road
Pay Range: $27.00 – $40.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule and Travel Requirement: Variable schedule based on customer and project needs. Must be available for extended hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. Employees are guaranteed pay for 40 hours per week, even during periods when not actively assigned to a job—frequent travel required across the United States, including local, in-state, and out-of-state assignments.
Position Summary
The Field Machinist performs precision machining, repairs, and mechanical services at customer sites within the power generation and industrial sectors. This role requires extensive hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment in field environments. The ideal candidate is safety-driven, technically skilled, self-directed, and capable of delivering high-quality work under demanding conditions and tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
•Perform on-site machining and repair of industrial and power generation equipment.
•Set up, align, and operate manual lathes, milling machines, grinders, and portable field machining equipment.
•Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
•Measure, inspect, and verify tolerances using precision measuring instruments.
•Troubleshoot mechanical issues and adjust machining processes as necessary.
•Maintain strict adherence to company and customer safety standards.
•Collaborate with supervisors and team members to complete projects efficiently.
•Represent the company professionally at customer facilities.
•Complete the required documentation related to field assignments.
•Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements
• Minimum of 3–5 years of field machining experience required.
• Strong proficiency in operating manual machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience working within tight tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work up to 12-hour shifts and extended schedules as required.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
• Commitment to safety, reliability, and professionalism.
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or trade certification in machining preferred.
